Last Sunday, December 17, I examined 6th Dan by the Royal Spanish Karate Federation, successfully passing the exam. No practitioner of the Itosu-Kai style has reached that degree in Spain. The examination court is composed of 5 members of different styles of Karate, all of them being high grades of the Federation. In Spain, we are inside Shito-ryu. In particular, for my exam it is necessary to take, at least, 6 years of practice of 5th Dan to be able to be examined of 6th Dan. The 6th Dan exam consists of a research paper. In my case, I presented Unshu, who was supervised by the soke in Scotland, giving his approval. Subsequently, I did a practical work based on the research I presented in writing, about Sichidan geri (a work on keri-waza, looking for applications, kihon, kumite techniques, and a study of kin geri and kansetsu geri, with its variants sokuto geri and sokuto osae uke). The degree that I got from 6th Dan is recognized by the World Karate Federation, since Spain is a member of it. Royal Spanish Federation of Karate
In Spain there is a single Official Karate Federation. It would be similar to Japan's. Other Associations may exist, but to obtain an official title it must be examined by the Federation or validated. The Spanish Federation has a great impact in Europe. Currently, the Federation is celebrating its 40th anniversary in Spain. Throughout history, two World Championships have been held in Spain and, specifically in November of this year, the third championship will be held in Madrid. This championship has prestigious competitors such as José Manuel Egea, 3 times world champion in Karate; or Luis Mº Sanz, first foreigner to be world champion in katas and Damián Quintero, current number one in the ranking in kata. To finish saying that, the president of W.K.F. Mr. Antonio Espinós, being the headquarters in Madrid (Spain) and recognized by the International Olympic Committee.

El pasado domingo día 17 de diciembre me examiné de 6º Dan por la Real Federación Española de Karate, aprobando con éxito el examen. Ningún practicante del estilo Itosu-Kai ha llegado a ese grado en España. El tribunal de examen lo componen 5 miembros de distintos estilos de Karate, siendo todos ellos altos grados de la Federación. En España, nos encontramos dentro de Shito-ryu. En concreto, para mi examen hace falta llevar, al menos, 6 años de práctica de 5º Dan para poder examinarse de 6º Dan. El examen de 6º Dan consiste en un trabajo de investigación. En mi caso, presenté Unshu, que fue supervisado por el soke en Escocia dando su visto bueno. Posteriormente, realicé un trabajo práctico basado en la investigación que presenté por escrito, sobre Sichidan geri (un trabajo sobre keri-waza, buscando aplicaciones, kihon, técnicas de kumite, y un estudio de kin geri y kansetsu geri , con sus variantes sokuto geri y sokuto osae uke). La titulación que he conseguido de 6º Dan está reconocida por la Federación Mundial de Karate, puesto que España es miembro de ella.
Real Federación Española de Karate
En España existe una única Federación de Karate Oficial. Sería parecido a la de Japón. Pueden existir otras Asociaciones, pero para obtener un título oficial debe examinarse por la Federación o convalidarlo. La Federación Española tiene gran repercusión en Europa. Actualmente, la Federación está celebrando sus 40 años en España. A lo largo de la historia, se han celebrado dos campeonatos del Mundo en España y, concretamente en noviembre del presente año se celebrará el tercer campeonato en Madrid. Dicho campeonato, cuenta con competidores de reconocido prestigio como fue José Manuel Egea, 3 veces campeón del mundo en Karate; o Luis Mº Sanz, primer extranjero en ser campeón del mundo en katas y Damián Quintero, actual número uno en el ranking en kata. Para finalizar decir que, el presidente de W.K.F. es D. Antonio Espinós, siendo la sede en Madrid (España) y reconocido por el Comité Olímpico Internacional.
