Team Itosu-kai got 5 x Gold, 10 x Silver and 21 x Bronze!

Rengo-kai Championships

Japan Karatedo Rengo-kai: Kanto District Karatedo Championships were held at Tokyo Budo-kan on August 11th, 2018.

Japan Karatedo Rengo-kai (Federation of Japan Karatedo Organizations) was established in 1957. It is one of the oldest karatedo federation in Japan, and it is currently composed of 57 karate organizations, such as Itosu-kai, Hayashi-ha, Shuko-kai, Tani-ha Shito-ryu, Ryuei-ryu, Gensei-ryu…etc . It is one of the biggest karate groups in Japan. In 2008, Itosu-kai’s Soke Sadaaki Sakagami was appointed to be the deputy president of the federation after the demise of the previous president Master Teruo Hayashi and he was officially installed as the president in 2013. (He is currently retired.)

This group is also affiliated with Japan Karatedo Federation (JKF,) but it has its own activity and this Kanto district championships are one of them.

Kanto district covers Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama, Tochigi, Ibaraki and Yamanashi prefectures or states. So, you can tell this is one of the biggest championships in Japan.

This time, Team Itosu-kai made a big success and we received 5 x Gold medals, 10 x Silver medals and 21 x Bronze medals. Top 8 competitors in an each division also received Fighting Spirit Awards.

The followings are the results of the championships and those winners will go to National Championships in Osaka on November 11th.
