A total of 511 entries and 44 participating clubs from Denmark, Sweden, Germany, France and Romania competed over two days in our beautiful Sports Arena.
Referees from Denmark, Latvia, and Germany made sure that everything went by the book and the Danish team of well trained and experienced official made sure along with Ms. Merete Katborg of Kaizen that all categories were on time.
Kaizen Karate Do had a big group attending, and as usual Kaizens students competed in both Kata and Kumite as well as we had Kumite teams and Team Kata. The other two Itosu Kai clubs in Denmark were also present with big groups, and all three clubs reached the top ten of medal taking clubs!
Kaizen Danish Open also hosted a special training for the Danish National Team Kumite preparing for the World Championships in Madrid, Spain, and the Danish Karate Federation talent development programe for Kata, headed by Talent Trainer Rikke Linck of Itosu Kai, and with the majority of talents in the programe coming from Kaizen Karate Do. Itosu Kai may not be the biggest style organization in Denmark, but we are in the top league of the Danish Federation.
In 2019 Kaizen Karate Do will be hosting three tournaments in Kolding, two Kaizen Doryoku Cups and the 8th Kaizen Danish Open, which will be on the 26th and 27th October.
Kaizen Doryoku Cup, is a smaller tournament for beginners and intermediate athletes, with initial matches organized as Round Robin after which we will have semifinals and finals. This ensures that all participants are guaranteed at least 2 – 3 matches, giving them more experience.
