Itosu-kai Seattle, USA won AAU National Karate Championships!


Sensei Joni and Alan Sharrah and the members of USA Karate Academy (Itosu-kai Seattle)

Sensei Joni Sharrah and Coach Alan Sharrah, along with 8 members of USA Karate Academy in Seattle, USA, attended the 2019 AAU Karate National Championships, July 2nd - 6th, at Broward County Convention Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., USA. Congratulations to all who participated. The students performed at their highest level, and their outstanding effort at the 2019 AAU Karate National Championships resulted in 3 Gold, 3 Silver, and 3 Bronze medals.

The multi-day event started with the officials and coaches clinics. Officials and coaches reviewed the finer details of AAU Karate rules, and practiced the kata "Happo" together with Sensei Toshiisa Sofue from Saitma, Japan.

Sensei Kiyhoshi Nishime, from Cincinnati, Ohio, USA led a Kobudo Clinic, and Sensei George Kotaka, from Honolul, Hawaii, led the Kumite Clinic.

The week of competition brought the nation's top athletes dojos together, and guest athletes from Romania were in attendance.

Final results: 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals
